After The Rains

The garden has had two weeks of rain to grow and bloom. Bunches of Calla Lillies in the back yard and the delicate rock roses in the front along with the newly installed Pride of Madeira.

Mixologists

We have been toying with some different syrups and ingredients the last few months and came up with a winning combination this afternoon. Last week I made a simple syrup of rosemary, peppercorns and orange zest. It's been in the fridge waiting for a sign. It came today when friend Franny came over with a huge bag of grapefruits and oranges. We squeezed a bunch of grapefruits and added the syrup along with some tequila and a spritz for WL. I added a little whiskey to mine and thought it tasted like a whiskey sour. The concoctions continue.

Saab 99

WL's mechanic drove for 18 hours to Tuscon and back with his brother to retrieve a rare 1978 Saab 99 yesterday. WL is loving life this morning. It turns out that the car is a more prestigious silver than mere grey. The inside looks very mod and not in horrible shape considering the age. Love the 70's logo.

From Mexican brides to semi naked soccer stars, last week had a little bit of everything. Started off monday morning with Ellen directing an ostrich at the LA Arboretum and ended on friday afternoon in a photo studio with the world's most famous footballer.

New Balance

I finally found some footage from the very cool New Balance commercial we did in NYC last fall. A few cold nights and runners. There was even a shot of me in the doc taking a spot meter reading. The star is Jenny Barringer who tells us that the commercial started airing in February. Watch the goings on here.

Wayfarer's Chapel

We escaped the hurly burly of city life last week for a few hours with a trip to Frank Lloyd Wright's Wayfarer's Chapel on a Pacific cliff in Palos Verde. Gorgeous and serene.

White Bread and Beer

Fine dining downtown at the SmokeHouse on Spring St.
Casey Mc and his fiancee are in town for the week so we celebrated with racks of ribs and tall boy Pabsts. Perfect.
Just in case you think Pabst is a thing of the past, they have an App that will direct you to the nearest frosty one.

Stuck Dog

Seven went for his first real acupuncture treatment this morning at Limehouse Vet Clinic. Our new vet stuck the "feel good" one in first and proceeded with the rest of the body. Seven actually laid down and was still for 10 or 15 minutes. Never thought that would happen.

Snowcapped

The recent chilly weather and rain/snow has made for some spectacular snow capped mountains. With this weekend's projected temps in the 70's..... these sights will be short lived.
