High Line Chelsea
MR and I went for a walk along the westside's newest attraction yesterday.... The HighLine Park. NYC has taken the old elevated rail tracks slicing through the westside and made a wonderful native landscape park. The rusted railway lines give inspiration to the planters and benches. We had lunch on some bleachers with a north bound view of 10th ave. The new Standard Hotel straddles the walkway at the southend in the Meat Packing District.
Macondo NYC
MR and I wound up last night at our new favorite Brazilian watering hole, Macondo. I love the guava/whiskey cocktails while Martina opts for the strawberry/pisco/jalepeno concoction. The food is also excellent. We generally have a few tapas with the drinks. Last night I had some excellent meatballs.

Blinds
We recently got some honey blond blinds for the living room. I was a little leery about the color in the mercury vapor din of Lowe's but when we hung the first set, the room transformed. They look great and the light bouncing off of them gives a wonderful warm glow. The place has a lot of wood now and reminds me of a 1940's cabin/guest house.

New Plantings
We finished planting the front yard today. We added:
Gran Canon Island Snapdragon
Pacific Mist Manzanita
Soldago Californica (Western Goldenrod)
Starlight Sage
And my new personal favorite.... Kangaroo Paw (Anigozanthos)
Now we have to wait for them to root and see who likes the Mount Washington winters best.

Garden Develops
We started with some great looking flowering shrubs, salvias and ground cover.....then added some brown mulch around the plants and finished it off with some red wood chips for the pathways. We will see how these plants develop during the winter and hopefully have an explosion of growth next spring.

Desk/Table
Last weekend we took a break from hand tilling the front yard to buy a new table for the living room. I have been scouring craigslist since returning from Argentina to find a table similar to FM's Buenos Aires apartment. It finally appeared last Sunday and I jumped at it. We rented a truck from Home Depot and made our way to North Hollywood. The table turned out to be a custom job from high end furniture store Pampa. Reclaimed pine. It looks great in the new home's main room. And I discovered this morning that outside the window behind the desk are four huge bushes of night blooming jasmine. Great smell and I suppose I will be watering them as well now.
