New Floor.....Someday

The linoleum in the basement will be leaving soon. It will be replaced with a waterproof grey laminate.  With the hot water heater and washing machine on top, we thought laminate would be a better choice in case of accidents. Our handyman Paul did meet with an minor accident so we are hoping he'll be feeling well in the new week to do the install.

Primed

I spent the weekend stripping wallpaper and fixing the drywall holes. Finished priming today. Tomorrow, I paint the popcorn ceiling and then color the walls.

Wallpaper Find

I was stripping away a boring woodsy wallpaper boarder and found underneath a much nicer flintlock still life. We are finishing up the remaining bedrooms. Painting starts tomorrow.

New Windows

Paul is starting to swap out the original 1965 aluminum single pane windows for more modern, energy efficient versions.  Will hopefully help with AC and heating bills.

New Stain

We had a cedar deck put in last year.  Our handyman used stain from a big box store and it faded within months.  So this summer he came back and sanded it down.  After conferring with oracle/older brother, we decided to try Armstrong-Clark stain.  Luckily, our local paint store carried the color and quantity we needed. This oil stain has a darker, nicer look. Easy to reapply when needed.  So far. we love it.

Robin's Origami Kayak

We were back at Lake of the Woods last week and Robin debuted her new folding Oru Kayak.  Made of coroplast plastic, it unfolds from it's self made carry all.  A few buckles later, she was ready for the lake. It's not tippy at all.  It sits a bit high so the wind wanted to take her during our paddle home. On the whole a great alternative to an inflatable.
