It Begins

Demo on the upstairs started today.  Uncovered some more classic wallpaper and a ton of rodent droppings. It's all very similar to Terrace 49 10 years ago.......

Evil Under the Ivy

While hacking away at some ivy by the pool, I came across a planter with a evil looking boy statue in it. We are finding all sorts of things in the overgrown ivy..... basketballs, AA swag, frisbees and lots of garbage.  As we found out on T49, ivy covers a multitude of sins.  Ohm the Gnome stands guard to repel all unwanted spirits.

In Coming Parts

The contractors start this week and different parts have been arriving in anticipation.  Wonderful onyx subway tile for downstairs, a 15lb. faucet for upstairs and a size 15 shower head.  No water rationing in Oregon!

Deck Rot

We tore away the old rotting lattice work from the deck and after removing the ivy, discovered a few rotted out posts.  A little more "deferred maintenance" that needs our attention. It's a wonder we didin't all fall through when Bruce and Lindsey were here.

Boatnik Parade

On Saturday morning, we walked down to the 60th annual Boatnik parade.  It ticked off all the boxes needed for a good parade.....Hula dancers, Shriners in small motorized vehicles, marching bands, lots of automobiles and even a little bit of pride.

Filter Crud

We took apart the pool filter yesterday and cleaned it of years of crud. According to the pool shop guy, Tom, we have the best brand of filter out there.  And now it can actually do it's job.

Deferred Maintenace

That phrase was used a lot in the inspection report when we bought the house..... It basically means nothing was done for a long time.  So instead of slapping on a fresh coat of paint, I spent another day scrapping and sanding the eaves.  What I hoped would take a day is now a 3 day gig....

Pool's Open

The pool officially opened yesterday.  WL and I went to Paradise Pools and had an amusing time with Tom.  In between stories and jokes, he sold us all the paraphernalia we needed and instructed us on how to clean out the filters.
Water loving neighbor Robin helped me scrub the water line of crud.

Parrot's Beak

The Parrot's Beak that WL cultivated from a T49 cutting is doing well and on the cusp of flowering.

It's OK Because They're Animals

After what happened in the 20th Century, you would think we would stop dehumanizing people......

Herb Planter

I scored this from a garage sale recently. Italian mosaic.  Heavy but the basil likes it.

How's That Trade War Going?

What was done to Kansas will be done to the rest of the Nation.
And that other pesky treason bribe story........

B St. Hike

B st. near us turns into a fire road through some very pretty woods.  Banco and I have been taking walks there through the amazing Manzanita tree groves.  And now the scotch broom is in full bloom.

In Ground Sage

Finally planted one of the sages we brought with us.  On the spot of a dead stump.  Hoping it will make good mulch and grow.

Red Lily

Last Thursday, we ditched the girls and took Bruce to the Red Lily vineyard.  Wine tasting down by the Applegate river.  Great setting. The wine samples are served in test tube racks. Very intense Tempranillo blends.

Ready to Roll

I spent yesterday cutting in the red and painting white trim.  Today I get the roller out and fill in the lines.

Tire Jack, Oregonian Style

Breakfast at Taylor's

We drove south this morning to Cave Junction to have breakfast at Taylor's.  Famous for their sausages and meats, they also make a big breakfast burrito.....as Robin discovered.
