Park Shot

We had to hustle out of Buenos Aires for a dawn shot in a park by La Plata. The mist was perfect as we set up under a massive eucalyptus tree and we became friends with some wild dogs there. Our production manager Beau was given the task of keeping the pooches from in front of the camera.

The Elevator

I love the little elevator at FFM's Recolleta apartment. All wrought iron, wood and brass with an amazing white and green skylight above.. Very small but very elegant.

Wet Night

We finished up the week very dry and with excellent weather. But the last shot tonight needed some rain. So with movie magic, our actress becomes a little more depressed and isolated in our manmade downpour.

New Bag

I found this groovy Argentine leather travel bag the other day and it will complement my current weekend carpincho bag. Love it.

Pablo

Our 1st AC in Buenos Aires is Pablo. Funny guy who is also very good at his job. We first met him 2 years ago on the Iruya shoot. He always keeps the set light and laughing. Along side us is Fermin the Argentine gaffer.

Mercado de las Pulgas

WE went to the other market today. Not the tourist trap of San Telmo but the Mercado de las Pulgas in Palermo. Amazing stuff. A real flea market and the prices were fantastic. I got some more door hardware (will all the doors be mortice locks in the new home?????? A fleur de lis towel holder. a pair of glass sconces that reminded me of Czech glass 1920's. And ceiling light which to me looks like a cake. Much better than our generic 1970's flat piece of glass.....

The Apartment

While in Buenos Aires, I'm staying with a friend in the Recolleta. Her apartment is a mixture of old and new, white and black, wood and glass. My favorite aspect is the wall of glass between the master bath and the kitchen which allows for privacy in the bath while lending natural light to an otherwise dark kitchen.

Glass On Glass

While we were in Colonia, I found a beautiful old mirrored tray and some glasses. Here are two of the glasses. The bottom of the tray is as pretty as the top. Not sure if this will get hung on a wall or used as a tray.

Door Hardware

We have been talking alot lately about distinctive door hardware. I love the British style front doors and WL has embraced this concept to the full. We have ordered several things from London but I forgot that the Doors of Buenos Aires as equally opulent. So today I went to several door places and spent some time going through all the choices. Too many. But I am picking up some stuff for the new garage door. The rest.... who knows.

Back On The BuqueBus

Yesterday was the perfect Sunday spring time weather in Argentina. We decided to forgo the usual turista traps of San Telmo for a boat ride over to Uruguay's quaint, quieter turista trap, Colonia. We boarded the Buquebus and an hour later found ourselves in another country. The sun was shining, the air was cool. We ate by the water at El Torreon and had some mediocre wine and some excellent sausages. They now rent go carts and mopeds to speed around the old town's cobblestone streets. And with a brand new glass and steel terminal building being built, I suspect the next time I come, Colonia will be a caricature of what it was.
