Almost
We went last night to participate in the event of the weekend. Young entrepreneur Rob Bliss built a 400' water slide in downtown Grand Rapids. The event even caught the eye of the New York Times. However, we had made a pit stop at Corez for a pre-slide martini and by the time we queued up, the slide was done for the evening. At least we got our insides soaked......

Annabel
Saw these paintings online and was intriqued enough to drive over to the Muskegon Art Museum and check out the paintings of symbolist Annabel Livermore. Fauvist, Van Gogh-like canvases.

Brower Park
After our canoe ride, we decided to try the local park and go for a swim. A magnificent pine forest gave way to Brower Park. A nice grassy area with an enclosed swimming area kept the jet skiiers away. The highlight was a family of swans came ashore to preen and bask in the late afternoon sun.

Mighty Muskegon
We rented canoes and braved the mighty Muskegon River recently. Reading the warning sign at the beginning of the trip, we agreed we would be breaking a fare number of rules. FN and I shared one canoe while the girls paddled the second. Somehow they were able to keep a straighter course than Frannie and I. A beautiful day for boat ride.

Chihuly's Garden
Some of us recently rendez voused at the Miejer Sculpture Garden to take a look at the summer's must see art installation. Dale Chihuly has put 15 of his pieces around the grounds of the park. Spectacular spikes, Quartz towers and glass globes are just a few of the artist's work.

Meyer May House
FN and I took a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's Meyer May house in Grand Rapids. The Steelcase Corp. bought the horribly refurnished and remodeled house a few years ago and have restored it back to it's 1908 glory. Great to see all the Lloyd Wright touches that made him famous and infamous.
