Mount Washington Hotel
Franny and I recently ventured up to the top San Rafael St. to view the old Mount Washington Hotel. Built in 1910 by the same folks who constructed the Chinese theater, the luxury hotel cost $40k to build. Since 1925, it's been the world headquarters of the Self-Realization Fellowship. They have kept the original building and tennis court while adding many peaceful gardens. And while the days of ladies paying 10 cents to take the funicular up the mount for afternoon tea atop the world are over, there is a sense of history that permeates the grounds. And a killer view of downtown.

Fun Downtown
We went to the Brewery ArtWalk yesterday. A bunch of old industrial spaces (including a former Pabst brewing plant) have been converted into artists live/work spaces. Twice a year they open the complex to us outside folks and let us peruse their art and living arrangements. The fun came when FN wanted to try on some leather masks at Ravenwood. I just played but she bought a nice, discreet everyday kinda mask.... perfect for the supermarket or chasing down criminals.
Some of our other fave artists were Sandman's illuminated sculptures and Rob Silverman's Pez on Earth photo series.

A Model Niece
Seems that Denver has gotten a shot of the family genes as niece TVI has taken the town's senior modeling competition by storm. The reluctant participant grabbed the lead cover and top honors in the Element One Studio Magazine contest. Fashion shows and more snaps to follow.....
