We got a big patch of thighs yesterday. WL made an excellent salsa chicken dish. Today, I put the reminder in a paella.

Paparazzi On The Beach
We were shooting on the beach in Santa Monica yesterday. The model was unknown to me but the paparazzi certainly knew her.....
Simone took a snap of our lighting rig with me standing by to direct it.

Sand Fire
We finished working in Pacoima yesterday and a brush fire over the mountain and along the 14 Fwy was just getting started. Called the Sand Fire, I grabbed a pic as I drove home along the 210 Fwy. The moon last night was a vivid orange. This morning, the sun was blotted out by the smoke. It's leaving soot and grime on the cars. The mountains are not visible. The bottom map shows the areas affected by this smoke. The only good thing is that this cover should throttle back a scorching heat that was to plague us today.

First Bud
I came back from Phoenix to a bud on the new Santa Teresa Lemon tree. The 100 plus degree weather a few weeks ago sun burned some of the leaves, so we rigged an old window screen overhead to help the young thing beat the heat.
We also think the heat might be inhibiting the Oro Blanco grapefruit in the back so I got some white lace to cover it. Hopefully the tree can make some healthier leaves, and we can remove the veil in Fall.

Next Phase
The next phase in Banco's slalom training has begun. Each day the space will narrow until she's swerving around like a pro.

Big Figs
Now
that we've stripped away a lot of the ivy and underbrush around the fig
tree, it looks like we will be getting a bumper crop this year. If we
can get to them before the squirrels do.
Phoenix Bound
This past Monday had me leaving the Burbank hills toward a brutally hot Scottsdale, AZ.
92 degrees at 6 AM and climbing did not make for a great working environment. We did the job, and returned to a refreshing 83 degreed LA yesterday.

Italian Pot Roast
WL has been making a killer Italian pot roast lately. The gravy that this melange produces is almost as good as the meat.

Coyote Morning
A coyote followed Banco and I along a ridge and then dropped down to street level for a better view. Banco wanted to play but the coyote turned tail and bolted back up the steps and was away.
G&E's New Yard
We dropped in on Georgia and Esteban recently and marveled at their new front yard. Beautifully landscaped and ready to become a jungle like ours when things start growing and expanding.
