Before and After

Drained over 2" from the pool this morning. The cyclone is now over. About 5" fell over a few days.  I had to pump the pool a few times.  We found a decommissioned 3" fire hose and  W made an adapter for the pump.  Now the water leaves much faster.

Heavy Weather

The worst landed to the north and south of us.  Still....4" of rain in 2 days is a lot.
 

Fall Paddle

What started off as a chilly morning turned into a beautiful afternoon on Galesville reservoir. Perhaps the last kayak of the season. Hard to believe we'll be paddling on top of the sunken forest next spring when the water levels go back up 30'.

In the Piz Gloria complex is an exhibit on the making of "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". Some interactive games and a lot of behind the scenes footage from the film. Maël tried his hand at the helicopter simulator. 

 

Going to the Top

We left Zurich early in the morning and connected in Bern with locals Tosh and Maël.  Basel residents Sarah and Gabriel joined at the station as well.  We trained past picturesque Thune lake and then arrived in Mürren.  Three cable cars to the top of the Schilthorn Alp and the Piz Gloria restaurant.

Afterwards at a lower altitude we enjoyed some Aperol spritzs and lunch in Gimmelwald.  Sarah was very hungry.

Bike Ride to France

We took off Saturday morning from Sarah's home to ride through France on our way to a Swiss cloisters. We stopped at the marker denoting the border. The Mariastein Abbey was magnificent and it's patron saint is supposedly of particular interest to Indian Catholics. 

Crossing the Rhine

After touring the Basel Cathedral, Sarah needed to get us to the other side of the Rhine river. The river is moving quickly. They have a wire across the bridge onto which the ferry is connected. The boat's angle and the speed of the rushing water propel the boat to the other side.
