Sculpture Garden pt.2

A few more pieces from the permanent collection of the Meijer Sculpture Garden. Including a very big anatomically correct horse.

Chihuly's Garden

Some of us recently rendez voused at the Miejer Sculpture Garden to take a look at the summer's must see art installation. Dale Chihuly has put 15 of his pieces around the grounds of the park. Spectacular spikes, Quartz towers and glass globes are just a few of the artist's work.

Meyer May House

FN and I took a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's Meyer May house in Grand Rapids. The Steelcase Corp. bought the horribly refurnished and remodeled house a few years ago and have restored it back to it's 1908 glory. Great to see all the Lloyd Wright touches that made him famous and infamous.

DJ's

We recently turned local watering hole DJ's into a thumping strip club, complete with mylar curtain, rope light galore and some funky practical lights. AH commands the scene from atop the bar.

Corez

Spent last night sampling the cocktails over @ the Corez wine bar on Cherry St. Lot's of interesting mixtures including the above Savage Detective and the classic Negroni. FN fell over backwards for the stuffed dates with pistachios and cheese. Excellent place when endless Oberons are getting you down.

Saugatuck Dunes

Been going to the Saugatuck Dunes beach on the weekends to relax, read a little and swim in Lake Michigan. It's a fifteen minute hike through some excellent forest scenery and then you pop out onto an unspoiled beach. Perfect.

LA Garden

Got a few pics of the garden's progress back home. The Tipu in the back is in full bloom. The St. Catherine's lace is big and white while the parrot's beak is slowly inching way across the ground.

Wealthy St. Theater

We have been seeing the dailies at the refurbished Wealthy Theater in a hip area of Grand Rapids. It's close enough to downtown that our director can ride his bike to the screenings. And in a week's time, a different film I was associated with will be playing.....

Allegan Flea Market

Got up early Sunday morning and headed 30 minutes south to the once a month Allegan Antique Market. Turn left at the 12' tall chicken. Find a parking spot and start shopping.

Saugatuck MI

We spent saturday exploring Saugatuck, MI, a small beach community about 40 minutes south of Grand Rapids. Great old buildings and lots of little artisan shops and a few candy/fudge stores with the biggest slabs of fudge I'd ever seen.

Weekend Dog

In my absence, Seven has taken to laying in the middle of the verbena in the backyard. He must be smelling something good.
