Blue Garden

By the fence, our Breath of Heaven was consigned to Heaven after a very tough summer and we replaced it this morning with a Blue Bush Germander.  Hopefully it can handle the heat better.  We added some tuffs of Blue Fescue and Elijah Blue Fescue over by the Spanish Broom and sprinkled a few succulents around, as well.

Fall Garden

Not much in bloom after the hot summer.  A few splashes of red and purple.  A touch of blue and yellow.  Longer nights and damp mornings should get a few things growing soon.

Weekend Dog

The Rude Guest

The normal gaggle of birds was disturbed this morning by a big squirrel looking for a drink.  He was gone just as quickly and the party got back together.

Billy Acts

I was on set last week only to find that one of our actors was Amy D's nephew Billy..... and that it was his first acting gig.  Glad to be present at the beginning of a great career.

Stair Meister

The dog has been wanting to take the stairs connecting two streets on our morning walk.  It's about 9 flights of steep hiking and for a 12 yo dog, I'd think he'd prefer the easier route.  But I guess there are sniffs along the way worth the effort.  The view at the top is almost worth it.

Grasshopper Killer

I've been noticing far fewer grasshoppers in the garden.... and now I know why.  I came across a very fat mantis tonight while watering. I'm hoping he has room for a few more pests.

Perfection

Two of our car prep guys making sure every inch of this car is perfect to shoot.

Sick Irene

  • Irene crapped out on WL while at the market today. The tow guy seem to think it's the starter. As it was being driven away, I remarked at her being manhandled in this manner.... WL reminded me that she is one tough old broad.

    Monday Dog

  • It only reached into the mid 80's today so we were able to get out a bit more and enjoy the patch of grass. Of course the reduced exterior heat did not encroach on nap time.
  • Martina's Big Red Crane

  • Fab camera woman Simone just returned from Bangladesh where she was working on a project with Martina. I love the sight of MR swinging around on a big red crane. It's almost as theatrical as the scene their shooting!

    Saying Goodbye

  • A few last snaps before leaving New Zealand today. A magical countryside and fantastic country.
  • Peter's House

  • Our producer's brother let us shoot in his fantastic restored country cottage. The Aston Martin amazed us on the scout and he had a few other gems hidden in his garages.

    The Last Queenstown Sunset

  • The snow level came down low last night and we got a few flakes. But mostly it was cold rain during the morning.  Around lunch time the clouds began to part and I was able to get some good shots driving home from our location tonight.  Tomorrow it's back to Los Angeles.
  • Approaching Storm

  • The sun spectacularly tried to stay out yesterday but a cold front coming through Queenstown is promising snow showers today.

    Queenstown Hill

  • What most countries would call a mountain, New Zealand calls a hill.  We were all over Queenstown Hill today with motorbikes on dirt paths, girls running through soaking bogs and a lunch including lamb and rhubarb crumble overlooking the grand lake. Breath taking.

    Morning in Kinloch

  • We drove 75 minutes outside of Queenstown this morning to the tiny hamlet of Kinloch to capture a few scenes at sunrise.  We then went to an amazing fern forest and created rain and sun for several other shots.
