Before Fox, There Was Network
I'm ashamed to say that until last night, I'd never seen Network. Great writing, acting, directing and cinematography. It's called a dramatic satire and would be so if not for the fact that most of it's story has become real. A pivotable view of America in the 1970's and a reality we now inhabit. Watch a few of the great scenes here and here. And remember.... Anger sells.

Banco in Situ
Karen was on the look out for a loose dog. We came across him while walking one morning. Turns out Tito belongs to a nearby house. But Banco kept him entertained until Karen and Raleigh could arrive.

Dancin' in JVille
We helped Robin lithesome stuff at B&L's home in Jacksonville. Afterwards we hung out a local winery called Dancin'. All the wines have been named after ballet terms.

Arabesque
Finally got my favorite movie poster framed. A great graphic from a good film starring Gregory Peck and Sophia Loren
Paper Whites
The sun is making all sorts of things start to bloom. In our back yard, some paper white bulbs planted last fall are coming up.

Liberace!
In her garage, neighbor Barbara has at least 3 of everything ever made. She came across this autographed Liberace album from her past and passed it along to us. She recently lent me her optometrist's autobiography, My Two Wives and Three Husbands. Great read about life and love from the 50's to the present.

Death on the Doorstep
Found this dead bird the other day. Doesn't look like the feral cats have gotten to it. Hope it's not bad luck.

Yahoos
Some local yahoos are starting to gather signatures to make southern and eastern Oregon part of Idaho. They don't like being governed by the liberal North. Will never happen but the local paper got into the act.

Final Fandorin
The final episode in Boris Akunin's Erast Fandorin series arrived from England recently. Not Saying Goodbye supposedly will end a fantastic run of adventures. Can hardly wait to get started.

Pump
Now that the pool has no cracks or leaks, we had to buy a sump pump to get water out of the pool during our rainy season.

Lunar New Year
It's the Lunar New Year tomorrow. Wear red, have a good meal with love ones and don't do any of the above!

First Snow
The first snow of the season fell last night. The 2" shut down the city. I think Banco would've preferred to stay inside but we managed a short walk around Woodson field.

He's Gone
I learned today that Michael Howells died last year on the operating table. I stayed with Michael in the late 90's, after my break up with Dan. Yesterday, from a mutual friend, I saw his grave. Michael will will always be a bit of starlight in my memories. I got his out sized talent on a Jaguar Commercial many years ago. We were able to create Hong Kong on stage. In his interview, he's very complimentary of what lighting means to production design. My main memory of Michael's home will be the giant bath tub, the only vessel to ever satisfy my height. You can his see interview for Jaguar here. Ellen's interview is here
