Last week's paddle was at Applegate Lake. The end of the summer and it's 40' below its springtime high. The bridge we can normally go under and continue on for another mile was high and dry. The lack of water created a bunch of meandering canals that we had never seen before. Once we got out onto the lake proper, there's still enough water to make this a spectacular kayaking day.

Green Pea First
It was fun to motor around the countryside in a vintage VW. And the restaurant's location was gorgeous. Situated along Slate Creek.

Steve's BDay
Another trip around the sun for Steve M. Celebrated at our favorite GP restaurant with the gang. Looks like Bruce is trying to help with the candle blowing.....

Cloudy Days
A storm blew through Southern Oregon last week. Our normal bright sunshine was covered by clouds and cool weather. It made the sunken forest at Galesville just a little more ominous. Back to 85 and sunny today.

Friendly Ducks
A smoky day in the valleys gave way to a beautiful scene up in the mountains. The Lake of the Woods ducks have gotten overly friendly and tame. Unfortunately none of my treats were duck approved.....I'll have to up my snack game next time.

24 Hours
On Thursday, we had a beef fest at a dual birthday party for Barb and Robin. Three locally sourced tomahawk steaks later, we waddled off to Jacksonville.
At the Britt festival, they were showing a classic film with a proper orchestra. Our own Death Star menacingly rises behind the stage.
Early the next morning we took off o Fish Lake for a weekly paddle. Incredibly full and for once, a lack of wind made for a relaxing day on the water.Thursday, June 06, 2024
Once a week
It takes me 45 minutes, once a week to water the front yard. Everything coming in really well. I'll see what happens when the real heat starts.

Thwarted
I drove to the coast yesterday thinking I'd kayak in Lake Earl. No paved boat ramp. I started to take the boat towards the water and got mired in mud. So much so that I couldn't reach the water. The deep mud also claimed my water shoes as they were sucked off my feet. I came back home with a muddy boat and body.....
I was wondering why there were no boats out on a gorgeous day
