We were in JVille a few days ago having lunch and fixing computer problems. Lindsey showed me the blow up of a picture I took during a recent eclipse.  I didn't know she had it blown up and framed.....! Makes me feel professional......

Are We Serious

We Are Not a Serious Country

Matt Lewis: “Let’s stop for a second and appreciate the gravity of this moment. The Jan. 6 Capitol riot occurred three years ago, and the first chance the Republican Party had to rebuke this atrocity in a presidential election resulted in their endorsing it, via nominating the man responsible for inciting said riot.”

“Of course, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Trump was also the first president to ever attempt to stop the peaceful transfer of power. (And don’t get me started about the indictments, or his being found liable for sexual assault, or all the dictator talk, etc.)”

“Now, I don’t want to conflate the GOP with the rest of America. But we are talking about one of our two major political parties here. It stands to reason that the kind of people we choose to lead us says something about who we are, too. And what does Trump’s success suggest? We are not a serious country. We love entertainment. We are tribalistic, and we crave an exciting strongman.”

First Snow

Woke up to the first snow of the season. Very wet and heavy.  I was slipping and sliding getting out of the driveway this morning.

Womb Chair Back

Probably the quickest Paul has ever worked.  He welded the broken part back together and the chair is back to it's former glory.

Bird Feeder

W bought a bird feeder. I bought a shepard's crook.  And now there are a multitude of little birds flocking to the front yard.

Womb Chair Down

One of the legs snapped off the womb chair yesterday. I took the frame off and discovered 2 more fractures, as well.  Handyman Paul will try to do some welding to get it all working again. The chair is 50 years old and I've had it for over 30 of those years. I would hate to have to say goodbye.

It's Almost 2024, Right?

Flat Earthers debating the shape of the planet. Believing it's a sphere is supposedly one of the Devil's greatest achievements. Below, The perceptive comedian/author David Mitchell gives us his conclusion  on the Graham Norton Show

Nearly Done

Nearly done now.  Just waiting on a Vanderwolf pine to go where the redwood used to be.

Creek Bed

The guys created the dry creek bed today that will separate the slope from the flagstone path.

Stream Bed Goes In

Yesterday a big heaping, steaming load of dirt got delivered.  The guys backfilled up to the dry creek rock border.  More boulders arrived at the end of the day.  Today they are laying out the stream bed and diverting the gutter downspout drainage.

Of Fog and Pumpkins

A foggy morning on Lake Selmac gave way to bright sunshine. On the way back into town, we stopped at a local farm to pick up a few pumpkins and squash. Although I really wanted to, I heeded the sign and refrained from jumping on the pumpkins.
