Portage

While Bruce and I were parking our cars, someone spoke to Lindsay about a wonderful kayak on the northern end of Lake of the Woods.  It involved going under a low bridge and coming out into the vast overflow fields beyond.  There's so much water that these fields were looking like a fun new paddle.

The water was swift under the bridge and when we got to the other side, downed trees were blocking us. The current was too swift to go back the way we came so we portaged the boats and reentered the water.  We then had to portage again when we came to the end of the field, walking the boats to a nearby boat ramp.

After that diversion, we continued with our normal north lake excursion.  We saw the familiar bald eagle there.  And a winter sign warning of snowmobiling and cross country skiing on the river.....
