We went to a late lunch with neighborhood buddies Sylvia and Val this afternoon. Villa Sombrero has great margaritas and food and like a well crafted caesar salad, the guacamole is made in front of you. The artwork alone is worth the price of a drink.

Yesterday we were shooting at the old Lowe's Theater in Jersey City. A beautiful landmark theater that is the midst of being refurbished. It was great to be able to explore the craftsmanship a little bit while we were working.

Playing With Our Food

I've been working on a food shoot this week with Tristan shooting. Today we mixed things up and had some models on set to enjoy/play with our food. Their energy was great and kept us entertained till lunch.

Millions

Once again proving that anything he directs deserves a watching, we viewed Danny Boyle's "Millions" tonight. Produced in 2004 after his infection/zombie masterpiece "28 Days Later", this brilliant little dramedy concerns a small boy prone to Saint seeing and a bag of money that comes from God....or maybe a train robber. Either way, the journey is always worth the while with Boyle. Illusionist. Fableist. The trailer is here

After the recent freezing temperatures, the mercury is on the rise again but the dog is still feeling the chill and finds the last bit of sun under the daybed.

According to Redfin, the online realty site, Highland Park will be in the top ten of real estate hotspots this year. With the average home price expected to rise over 30%, we are thinking we did well for ourselves 3 years ago. Neighboring Eagle Rock and Glassell Park are also on the top ten list.Read more here

It's raining today but yesterday was glorious.

We took up some ice plant from near the pepper bush and planted Trish Monkey Flower and a Wendy Alumroot. This will be our third try at growing the elusive monkey flower but we are hoping that Trish's love of clay will make this time the charm. Below is the idealized versions of these plants.

Fave NYC painter Jane Swavely recently completed a portrait of fave LA pooch. Seven appears to be proud by his being immortalized in oils.

We went to get in the car today and a young-ish coyote came trotting down the road in front of us. We caught up with him as he headed up Cleland. I've seen them in the early hours while walking the dog but this was a first time occurrence in broad daylight.
