We will be shooting in a magnificent glass and concrete house later this week. An infiniti pool overlooking the harbor. Incredible details everywhere. The velvet curtains, the bath tiles, the concrete has a wood pattern that gives the illusion of aged lumber, like a Cape Cod saltbox home. A shallow/narrow slate stone moat surrounds the home. I will have to try to get some better shots on our shoot day.

Today we finished scouting at New Zealand's most famous surf spot, Piha Beach. The black sand beach with the huge "Lion's Rock" cropping made for some dramatic scenery. And while most of us took off our shoes and socks to cross a small stream, a few intrepid souls were carried over by our safety officer Dean.
The view from my balcony overlooks a little canal sporting an apartment block with boat docks. The hotel is very close to the harbor. And waterways are everywhere.
Ellen's fiancee Anton an I went exploring this morning to three of Auckland's weekend markets. Besides the friendly free hugs, there was a lot of great food and produce. I had never seen real, undried tumeric. We then hit up some expensive antique stores and then I was happy to hear that I didn't need my passport to enter Liquorland. On our way back we passed the uniquely named Tepid Water Baths..... sounds meh.......

We ended last night with a bonfire by the docks. S'mores and a bit of heat were enjoyed by all.
Fun loving nephew Patrick decided that kayaking was too subdued for him so he had my brother Don hook him up to the back of the boat for a pull. Things didn't work out so well the first go but after some consultations, he got going and had a good ride. His father and my brother David sailed past a few minutes later wondering what was going on.....
