It's definitely sexier saying cornichon instead of pickle but.......

Chile Verde
Tomatillo season is upon us. Seems to be the last crop before winter. We spent Friday afternoon in JVille with the T's where W gave a lesson on Chile Verde making. Some local frizzantes and red wines got the better of Bruce and me.

Last Picnic
With rain coming tonight, a bunch of the gang headed to our favorite winery yesterday for a last of season lunch in the vineyard. Beautiful day.

Fall Arrives
Our idyllic and long Indian summer comes crashing to a halt next weekend. Time enough to finish some painting, squeeze in a paddle and have picnic at a winery

Low Lake
Applegate Lake was quite low this morning. Beautiful day on the water. It's still a big enough lake and wonderful even if you're looking up at the trees.

Pool Power
Paul finished burying the pool power today. I pulled at the hated ivy and will continue this weekend. We have a working timer now, as well. Tomorrow the gate goes and a new one will be placed about 8' closer to the street. With the old fence and ivy gone, it does look a bit barren over there. Some lavender maybe next spring......
Banco in Situ
Barbara has been feeding a fearless stray cat named Gary. One morning, Gary wanted to play with Banco. She had no idea how to react to this cat rolling around in the gutter. Since this photo, Barb has taken Gary in and neutered him. His new moniker is Derby.....as in demolition derby!

Boys and Toys
Yesterday, Paul took down the old wood fence on the north side of the property. Today the trencher came in and he dug a path to the pool. Now the pool power can be buried instead of hanging from the neighbor's fence.

Paint Party
We were in Jacksonville yesterday helping to repaint the T's ADU. Bruce's sister had picked a hideous peach putty color (it photographs much better here). We opted to repaint with a more serene "September Song".

CA Fire
Our favorite kayak spot this year is just over the border from the raging CA fires. We've been lucky that the winds have been favorable and blowing smoke east instead of north.
