White Water Preserve

After the Mirror House, we headed north to the White Water Preserve.  A hike along the stream and more desert in bloom. With San Jacinto Peak in the background.

We went and looked at Doug Aitken's Mirror House.  "Mirage" is an art installation for the annual Desert X festival.

Incredible details all over this remarkable cabin.  And when we got too tired trying to sniff out all the treasures, a late afternoon teacup negroni was in order.

The interior of the cabin is just as unusual, quirky and charming as the outside.  Great views of  San Jacinto Peak.  My perch was in the sleeping loft over the dining area.

Pacific Crest Trail

Across the lane from our Snow Creek cabin is the historic Pacific Crest Trail.  We have been walking our part of it every morning.  Sunrise amongst the fields of vibrant flowers

Barney Makes the Scene

Snow Creek Cabin Exterior

 The amazing little cabin we lived in this weekend.  Situated just outside of Palm Springs in the tiny mountain hamlet of Snow Creek. The house was built in 1947 by East Hollywood developer John Van Pelt. On the horizon are the vast windmill farms along the 10 Fwy.

Rock Rose

It's really Spring when the rock rose blooms.  Some of the bulbs we planted last fall have been coming up, as well.

Roasted Green Beans and Sage

Excellent recipe we tried today from Bon Apettit.  Exceptionally flavorful with the garden herbs. Next time, we'll use a little less oil and salt.
