Biden Gets Swatted

In movie making parlance, those big 20'X20' silks hung from condor cranes are called Fly Swatters. Yesterday in Florida, Biden had 2 to keep him squint free and the sun gently diffused.

WL's Sauce

While I've been paddling, WL has been creating his fantastic tomato sauce. Tomatoes sourced from the farm stands of the Applegate Valley.

Guest Room Closet

We took down the single pole in the guest room closet and installed a more practical system. We had a guest who lamented the lack of a lingerie chest..... we are hoping these drawers will suffice.

Lost Creek Lake Redux

This past week we returned to the reservoir at Lost Creek Lake.  The water level was down about 30' and the flooded forest was on display as we put in at Catfish Cove. The Blue Herons were hanging out on the bare branches. It was our longest paddle at 3.5 hours.  We made it to where the Rogue River feeds into the lake. The last 1/3 of a mile was against a heavy Rogue current.  On our return, we spotted a bald eagle fishing. We were wiped out but a banana malt and chili cheese burger from Phil's Frosty helped to revive.

Banco in Situ

A yawning Banco recently joined Karen and I for a glass of rose at Woolridge Creek winery

End of Season

We got the whole gang together for a final party at Lake of the Woods. Dogs, spouses and neighbors showed up. Water is still crystal clear.  Was a warm day but Fall is coming fast this week.

What To Do While America Burns? Kayak!

Lake of the Woods was crystal clear yesterday.  Perfect temperature.  Not too much wind. No smoke. And perfect pizza afterwards at the marina.

New Bench

A new bench for the front door area.  Enough storage to keep all of Banco's gear out of view and a few spots for my big sneakers.

Closing Dancin

We spent the day in Jacksonville looking at the new progress on the Trumball's house.  Like our home, peeling back one thing often revealed other problems.  So the roof is taking longer than they thought. We went to Dancin Winery for lunch and ended up staying there for too many hours. The stuffed mushrooms were the favorite but the peach pizza (yes..... pizza with peach slices on top) was a close second. A fabulous afternoon.

Back to Galesville

We went back to Galesville Reservoir yesterday for a paddle.  It's dropped 17' since we last kayaked there. The old ghost forest was now exposed and we toured through the branches and stumps.  Lots of Heron, some Osprey nests and even two otters were spotted relaxing on a long since dead limb.

Banco in Situ

It was a perfect Sunday afternoon for a picnic on the grounds of Troon winery.  Banco got to hang out with the Briards and Charlie while we got to taste Troon's excellent new sparkler, the 2019 Pét tanNat

She's Gone

Acting legend Diana Rigg died today aged 82.  The best Bond girl, I got to see her on Broadway in her performance of Medea.  Two years later, my first trip to London was to see her and David Suchet mix it up as George and Martha in the classic Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?  You can hear her talk about her successful 1960s battle for equal pay in this interview.

New Room

We finished with the room. The bed takes up most of the space.  The BeadBoard turned out to be a great touch with some semi gloss paint.  The TV is large but it's our old one and the room will be a napping/viewing room when guests are not here.
