Thorms

While shooting over the weekend, a tremendous thunderstorm approached NYC. The floor to ceiling windows afforded us spectacular views of lightning strikes in New Jersey. As soon as it passed over us, the sun reappeared and the light was gorgeous. The phone attempted to capture the beauty.

Pensive Wolf

We were shooting on the 40th floor of a midtown skyscaper over the weekend. During one of the breaks, while activity buzzed all around, Wolf sought refuge in an empty elevator to collect his thoughts and figure out the next shot.

50th

2 weekends ago we were all upstate to celebrate EK's turning 50. RA and I put together the house before the guests arrived and there was a big weekend party. Swimming everyday in the pond. One of the nights, dinner was served in the gazebo and I snapped these fotos with the phone before it got too dark.

Floors

I got some nice photos from the frontline last night. WL has been repairing and sanding away for days now. The results look impressive. He will be staining and sealing next week.

Green Man Group

Doing a commercial this week that is heavy in post special effects. To that effect, we have been hanging a stunt man encased in green lycra to be the stand in for an actor who will be in that position during the editing stage. Our stuntman is excellent at just hanging still as the whirl of activity happens around him.

Lending Tree Commercials

We recently did a series of commercials for Lending Tree that took ordinary people and turned them into financial superheroes to a soundtrack by original Batman Adam West. Two of the commercials can be seen here and here

Night Shades

A few hours ago, we returned from a night time Lowe's run and hung some venetian blinds in the dining room. Gone are the ratty old gold curtains.

Fitting In

The new found pocket doors have been replaced with a pair of 10 paned french doors from the Reuse People. The kitchen/dining room door fit perfectly. But the living room/hallway door was 2" to small. WL shaved a few inches off the old doors and placed a one inch edge to each side of the door. And a 1/2" piece added to the bottom. The hardware fit and we bought some new pulls. A coat of Fudge Truffle semi gloss and the doors will look like they've been there forever.

What It Will Be

Once again we found ourselves at the Reuse People out in Pacoima to search for doors. Lowe's and Home Depot did not have what we were looking for. Sure enough, we left with a pair of gorgeous spanish french doors. Ten pane.
We got home and stripped the doors of their high end hardware. I placed one of the doors in the kitchen so we could see what the effect will be. Nice.

New Doors Open

WL has been sanding down the door jams lately. Today, he noticed the crappy MDF board on two sides of a kitchen jam. And the added thickness piqued his interest. I was outside in the back planting our M. Jackson Memorial dwarf kumquat tree when I heard a yell from the inside. WL had discovered a pocket door in the kitchen. The same set up was in the living room as well. Now his insistence on a pocket door for bathroom seems prescient. We have two new original hollow plywood 1949 pocket doors with brass hardware.
