Allegan Flea Market

Got up early Sunday morning and headed 30 minutes south to the once a month Allegan Antique Market. Turn left at the 12' tall chicken. Find a parking spot and start shopping.

Saugatuck MI

We spent saturday exploring Saugatuck, MI, a small beach community about 40 minutes south of Grand Rapids. Great old buildings and lots of little artisan shops and a few candy/fudge stores with the biggest slabs of fudge I'd ever seen.

Weekend Dog

In my absence, Seven has taken to laying in the middle of the verbena in the backyard. He must be smelling something good.

Meanwhile @ Stella's

SP and I returned from Saugatuck, MI when we heard old friend and current Detroit toiler Michael T was in town with some of his pals. We met them at a restaurant and had the obligatory Oberon beer. We then passed underneath the gargoyles and entered Stella's, a vegan whisky house. I've never heard of one either. Very fun with an eclectic interior. After a few more Oberon's, we met up with some of the local crew at Casey's fave bar Meanwhile. The violently fun paintings inside continued outside with a "narrative" mural that stumped us all. But some of the threads we wove around the unicorn heist/monkey fighting/ alien squeezing/ squirrel drinking imagery were very creative. The night devolved into floral accessories before I decided to call it......

Fulton Street

Lots of great stuff and of course the blueberries are in season. I wandered down the street and there are a bunch of antique stores and non- chain restaurants. I found a HUGE old electrical insulator in one shop. Will be using it flipped upside down for keeping keys and a wallet or two in although the ladies at the shop suggested chips and dip......

Parrot's Beak

The poppies are beginning to die off. They have been spectacular but alas..... they are waning. So WL found this member of the lotus family to take their place. The Parrot's Beak doesn't quite meet the drought resistant standard we set for the front yard.... but it looks mighty pretty. We'll see how it handles the summer heat.
