Banco in Situ

Los Angeles Snowfall

Recently, we did a Christmas job at Hollywood and Highland in LA.  The art department laid down the snow mats and for the actual shooting, art department boys with soap machine backpacks to blow suds into the air. Movie Magic.

Banco in Situ

An early morning walk last week.  Before the sun was up and the street stair lights were still on.

Coyote Morning

Banco and I had a good looking, good sized coyote follow us down Oneonta before running past.  They are looking well fed these days.... fewer feral cats around.

Golden Baked Onions

My brother and I were drooling over a recipe we spied yesterday online. Today I made the Golden Baked Onions and they were delicious. The thyme, gruyere and onions smelled amazing, as well.

Front Yard Substitutions

We have turned out attention back to the front yard. The Banksia has been struggling with termites so we finally removed it and put a desert willow in it's stead. A meager cordyline with a massive tap root has been replaced with a Golden Currant.  A pestilence of mites attacking a succulent has hopefully been arrested.  Added some more rosemary to complete a hedge under the front window. We are trying some Freesia bulbs so will be looking for those to start popping up in January. Red and orange poppy seeds scattered about for some spring color.

Rum Pecan

Brother Steve arrives today for a short visit and WL pulled out the stops to create a pecan pie for him.  Using rum this time instead of bourbon, the proof will indeed be in the pudding.
WL prides himself on his all butter crusts!

Of Headlines and Time

I find myself not being able to read the news anymore.  The headlines tell me everything I need to know about the race to the bottom we are now in. It all makes me mad, sad, depressed.  Glad to be living in the 6th largest economy of the world.... California.
With the extra time, I've been reading more, gardening more and cleaning more.  There is an upside to American Fascism. Happy Thanksgiving.

After The Rain

We had a good drenching last night.  Today the lady bugs are munching on aphids and everything looks very green.  The Cara Cara orange is blooming again. Before the onslaught, we planted our new Meyer Lemon against the back wall.  Hopefully it'll be happy there.

Martina's Chickens

A few months ago, Martina called me and asked how to best light a chicken.  She's been working on this doc for awhile and it appears that she figured out how to light poultry very well.
Looks like a good flick and will be on the market soon.
Watch the trailer here.

Celebrate Anthem

The commercial for Macy's Ellen and I did a few months ago went on air this past week. It's called Celebrate Anthem.  The 60 second version can be seen here.
