Banco in Situ

Rock Rose

It's really Spring when the rock rose blooms.  Some of the bulbs we planted last fall have been coming up, as well.

Roasted Green Beans and Sage

Excellent recipe we tried today from Bon Apettit.  Exceptionally flavorful with the garden herbs. Next time, we'll use a little less oil and salt.

Seven Day Explosion

Everything has exploded in the 7 days I was in NYC.  The wildflowers along the back wall are in full bloom. Yellow, Blue and Orange

In For The Chop

PBS icon Bill Moyers warned: “This is the first time they’ve tried it when they’ve had one-party rule in Washington, and this time they have what it takes to succeed, which is a ruthless president who doesn’t want any medium that competes with the alternate facts that they’re putting out.”

It's all so horrible

Wild Flower Bonanza

We tossed a packet of Theodore Payne's wildflower/poppy seeds around the desert willow in the back last year. We left the spent flowers through the summer and let them reseed.  This year, the greenery is knee high and things are starting to flower. I only wish that I had saved the envelope to have some names to the flowers.

Front Yard

Just starting to come to life after a wet winter.

New Growth

The new plants in the front are doing very well after a wet winter.  The Santa Teresa lemon finally is growing after 11 months.  The Golden Currant has trebled in size in 2 months.  The California bay leaf as been rid of aphids and seems to be enjoying the sun.

Springtime For Banco

Shelter

A few weeks ago, we had a torrential downpour that flooded the neighborhood (and LA).  For the first time memory, the birds sought refuge on the I beam holding up the porch roof.  2 were brave enough to perch on the inside..... but at one point, we counted 6 tails sticking out from the opposite side.

NYC Shoot

I loved being back in NYC for 2 weeks.  Nice to get together with old friends and meet a few new ones.
