When Computers Were Human

I finally got to see the excellent film "Hidden Figures" today. It tells the story of 3 genius women who broke barriers and crunched numbers for NASA. Human computers before the digital age and truly remarkable people. John Glenn reportedly wanted Katherine Johnson to confirm numbers before he launched.
Katherine Johnson received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016.
This film is definitely worth the price of admission.

Patio Table

I found a wrought iron and glass table on Craigslist for only $50. The table was in great condition with only minor chipping and rust.  The glass is in perfect shape.  We got it home and hit it with the Rust Reformer.  Then this morning, the hunter green spray paint went on.  Hard to believe the whole thing is costing only $65.We now have a proper patio table!

Lemons

The lemons are ripening fast.  Last year's drought and heat makes them a little smaller than usual.  And more seeds. The skin and pith are so mild that we have been slicing them and putting them through the juice masticator. The result is very frothy and pretty delicious.

Savory Bread Pudding

We had some mushrooms left over from Kim's pot roast and were looking for a recipe to use them.  I came across a mushroom bread pudding.  A lot of veggies, butter and cream later, we had a great side dish to a BBQ steak.
Recipe is here

Orange Bench

The bench out front was getting bleached by the sun.  So a few cans of spray paint later, the dull red wire bench is now orange.  Matches the Lion's Tail blooms.

Garden Snaps

The honeysuckle has been in continuous bloom this winter. The warm temps has the ice plants in purple bloom.
