He's Gone

We got Seven home Monday afternoon and for the next 2 days, he had shallow and rapid breathing. The doctor told us it was a side effect of the seizure drugs. What had happened, however, was that his feeding tube had ruptured and that his stomach was leaking into the surrounding cavity. We noticed blood around the tube this morning and took Seven to the hospital. He was in a near state of shock and close to being septic. Only emergency operating could flush out the area and then he could start to recover from this latest trauma. We decided that with everything he was going through and that with a pancreatic cancer death warrant, we could not prolong his suffering further. At 8 am we said our goodbyes and left the hospital. Some short time later, doctors administered the drugs that took him from this world and delivered him peacefully to the next. Our best friend is gone.
