Patient Dog

Seven waits under foot for the time to walk to come.....

Mongolian Smiles

Baaska has a thing for smiley faces. I guess the symbol is popular in Mongolia. So we made him a pair of smiley shirts. Here he and Martina are wearing them but not seeming to get the full message of the T Shirt.....

Bandaged in Burbank

  • I went in for a consultation to a new podiatrist and left 3 hours later with both feet wrapped up and a few days of horizontal exclusivity prescribed. The doctor had a great bedside manner and I think I've finally found someone who can help these tiresome dogs.

    Brooklyn Movies

Joined a few pals in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge last week for an alfresco movie. A great view of the sun setting over South Street Seaport and a few hundred like minded people looking to laugh.

    Olympic Commercials

A few months ago, Ellen directed some interesting commercials for ATT. For the Olympics, the commercials left blank images and times that would have to be edited in when an American actually won an event. So with an American win essential to the commercial making it to air, no one knew how many of these ads would actually be shown. Thankfully, Team America is excelling and most the ads have been airing.

    Popcorn Cassia

  • We finally got rid of the last trumpet tree this morning and planted an East African native.... the popcorn Cassia. The leaves smell like buttered popcorn. So nice. Big yellow bunches of flowers from equally big black clusters. In less than 3 hours, the butterflies had found it and were enjoying it. Read more here

    Richard Zanuck RIP

  • One of the youngest men ever to head a studio passed away this week. Richard Zanuck was 27 when his father tapped him to run Twentieth Century Fox studios in the mid 1960's. It is his tenure here that is immortalized in John Gregory Dunne's amazing book, The Studio. He would go on to produce the first summer event blockbuster with a young Steven Speilberg. The film was "Jaws". Amongst the hits and the flops, he always reigned as the last of the Hollywood mogul princes.
  • Obama Gets Wet

  • Love these picks of Obama in the rain speaking to 900 supporters in Glen Allen VA. He apologized to women for the state of their hairdos but it seems the girls did not mind.
  • Critical Thinking

The GOP has begun an attack on critical thinking. With this as a result, no wonder they're getting whackier by the day.......

    It's Alive

  • We went downtown yesterday to catch a screening of Danny Boyle's theatrical production of Frankenstein. British National Theater started a great series of viewing their productions worldwide. The actors in this production alternate roles nightly and we caught Jonny Lee Miller as the Monster and our favorite Sherlock Benedict Cumberpatch as Victor. In Los Angeles, there are two more opportunities to catch this production at the Downtown Independent theater. You can find encore screenings in your neck of the woods here

Yesterday in Redondo Beach was the annual get together of Swedish car fans. The cloudy morning brought out a lot of classic cars and the owners including several versions of my favorite Saab, the Sonett
