Pool's Open

The pool officially opened yesterday.  WL and I went to Paradise Pools and had an amusing time with Tom.  In between stories and jokes, he sold us all the paraphernalia we needed and instructed us on how to clean out the filters.
Water loving neighbor Robin helped me scrub the water line of crud.

Parrot's Beak

The Parrot's Beak that WL cultivated from a T49 cutting is doing well and on the cusp of flowering.

It's OK Because They're Animals

After what happened in the 20th Century, you would think we would stop dehumanizing people......

Herb Planter

I scored this from a garage sale recently. Italian mosaic.  Heavy but the basil likes it.

B St. Hike

B st. near us turns into a fire road through some very pretty woods.  Banco and I have been taking walks there through the amazing Manzanita tree groves.  And now the scotch broom is in full bloom.

In Ground Sage

Finally planted one of the sages we brought with us.  On the spot of a dead stump.  Hoping it will make good mulch and grow.

Red Lily

Last Thursday, we ditched the girls and took Bruce to the Red Lily vineyard.  Wine tasting down by the Applegate river.  Great setting. The wine samples are served in test tube racks. Very intense Tempranillo blends.

Ready to Roll

I spent yesterday cutting in the red and painting white trim.  Today I get the roller out and fill in the lines.

Tire Jack, Oregonian Style

Breakfast at Taylor's

We drove south this morning to Cave Junction to have breakfast at Taylor's.  Famous for their sausages and meats, they also make a big breakfast burrito.....as Robin discovered.

Lunch on the Farm

WL and I stopped by Pennington Farms today for a chile rellano pie and a cookie.  We already love their jams!

Kitchen Troops

We are finding so much great original stuff buried under years of indifferent remodels. In the upstairs bedroom is the Pebbles and BamBam linoleum and today, while getting rid of the wallpaper border in the kitchen, WL came across the original wallpaper.  Very 60's.  Prussian? French soldiers? Jay Ward colonialism. Too bad we cant's salvage any of it.

Travesty

Our neighbor on T49 sent some pictures of what the new people are doing to the house.  Supposedly they have a crazy pitbull that cant be allowed to see anything or anyone.  So instead of training the dog, a fortress of redwood is being built around the property.  Including over the back stone wall.  A bit disheartening but we have our new place to think of and hopefully transform.
